Types of ART
In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF)
IVF is the most commonly known ART technique and involves fertilizing an egg outside of the body and then transferring it into the uterus.
ICSI
Artificial Insemination
This involves introducing sperm into the uterus through means other than sexual intercourse. There are two types of artificial insemination: intrauterine insemination (IUI) and intracervical insemination (ICI).
Surrogacy
Surrogacy involves using another woman’s uterus to carry the pregnancy. This can be done using the intended mother’s or a donor’s gametes.
Egg/Sperm Donation
Donor eggs or sperm can be used to facilitate conception in couples where one partner is infertile or carries a genetic condition
