A Stroke occurs when an upper motor neuron lesion occurs, a clot cuts off the blood supply to parts of the brain or when a blood vessel in the brain bursts open and causes bleeding in the brain. In both cases, the brain cells are deprived of the required oxygen and nutrients they need to survive. Strokes can cause loss of muscle use on one side of the body (paralysis), as well as problems with speech, memory, learning and thinking. Due to our vast experience in the management of stroke conditions and the associated deformities, our physiotherapy team recommends treatment to improve your overall function and general health. We also organize seminars and stroke management classes for our clients to educate them about post stroke life change adjustments and modifications. The classes allow interactions and they create avenues for experience sharing and encouragement among the patients themselves. Our treatments may include therapy, special equipment, orthotics to relax tight (spastic) muscles and counselling.
