Paediatric Rehabilitation Clinic

We see children with a range of problems that affect function. Some need follow-up after discharge from paediatric hospital. Children with brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke, birth asphyxia, erb’s palsy, cerebral palsy, autism, spinal bifida, down syndrome, missing or short limb and various congenital deformity etc. These groups of special needs children are born with conditions that make it difficult for them to do what other children do. During their visits to our clinic, your child may see the physiotherapist and other rehabilitation specialists this may include seeing an orthotist, a speech therapist and a dietitian, this is based on your child’s needs. The team may recommend treatments such as therapy, special equipment, splinting, orthotics etc. These treatments may help improve your child’s ability to walk, move, use their hands and arms and also play with friends and attend school and social functions.

Children In-patient and Out-patient rehabilitation

In-patient care is common for children with conditions such as moderate-to-severe brain injury, spinal cord injury, encephalitis or Guillain-Barré syndrome, or after surgery or other treatments, that affects function. In the hospital, our team of specialists care for your child. We work with other healthcare providers in the hospital to make sure that all of your child’s needs are being met. Our entire focus is on what your child needs to get back home. We recommend a treatment plan and review it with you and your child. Your child has therapy daily, sometime in the morning and afternoon. Our team works closely with you and your child to adjust to your child’s treatment goals as they improve. Physiotherapy Outpatient Clinics for Children Rehabilitation physiotherapy offers several outpatient clinics. In our clinics, your child may see more than one provider during a visit so we can address your child’s different needs.

Tone Management Program in Children

Spasticity means some muscles are stiff or rigid. Spasticity is caused by an illness or injury to the brain or spinal cord. Spasticity may make it difficult for a child to walk, move their arms or speak. A team of providers, comprising of physiotherapists, neurosurgeons, orthopaedic surgeons, and orthotists may be see your child. After careful testing, our team recommends a care plan.  The team may recommend treatments such as physiotherapy, casting, and orthotics . At BAMFAK PHYSIOTHERAPY, we collaborate with Neurosurgeons and Orthopaedics surgeons to offer surgical options to treat muscles that are tight and stiff (spasticity). After careful testing, our team of surgeons make recommendations based on clinical findings to work with you and create a treatment option that is right for you and your child.

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) In Children

Often children come to our clinic after their injury had been evaluated somewhere else, such as at a trauma center or other hospitals by the neuro surgeon. They come to us because they need more support and care. A child who has a TBI can only be seen on condition that child has been in the hospital for more than 24 hours and certified fit and stable by an attending medical doctor with evidence of medical report or referral letter. We manage your child based on your child needs so that your child can return to school within shortest period.

Neonatal and infant therapy

We evaluate and treat babies born with certain acquired and congenital deformities either in our affiliated hospital or in our outpatient clinic. We provide positioning equipment, treatment to help your child’s development, feeding and parent education to cope and manage the condition.
