Paediatric Dentistry

 Paediatric Dentistry is maintaining child’s primary teeth to reduce risk of orthodontic issues and speech concerns by;

I. Oral examination: Regular evaluation to monitor the child’s oral development including jaw anatomy and teeth eruption pattern in order to identify potential issues before it becomes problematic.

ii. Protective sealants: Dental sealants to provide protective barrier against cavity causing bacteria in deep groove of back teeth recommended for all permanent molars erupting around 6 and 12 years.

iii. Fluoride treatment: applied after cleaning and helps to strengthen weak enamel reducing risk of decay and sensitivity in children.

iv. Dental cleaning: preventive cleaning every six months.

v. Dental filling: conservative white filling to repair decayed primary teeth, stopping infection spread.

vi. Crowns: stainless steel or tooth-colored zirconia crowns used to protect compromised or decayed teeth, preventing premature loss in children.

vii. Pulpotomies: To treat abscessed teeth, gentle pulpotomies combined with crowns preserve the tooth until permanent replacement.

viii. Extraction and space maintainers: none restorable teeth are extracted and space maintainers prevent crowding ensuring growth of underlying adult teeth.
